Getting Started
How do I get started with a fencing project?
Simply contact us to schedule a free consultation. We'll visit your property, discuss your goals, take measurements, and provide a detailed proposal. There's no obligation, and we never use high-pressure sales tactics.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes, all consultations and estimates are completely free. We'll provide a detailed proposal that breaks down materials, labor, and timeline so you can make an informed decision.
How long does it take to get an estimate?
For residential projects, we typically provide detailed proposals within 3-5 business days after our site visit. Commercial projects may require additional time for engineering review and permit research.
Materials & Quality
What materials do you use?
We use only premium-grade materials from trusted manufacturers. This includes select-grade Western Red Cedar, virgin vinyl from top-tier manufacturers, commercial-grade aluminum and steel ornamental fencing, and heavy-duty chain link systems. We never use budget-grade or recycled materials.
Why is your pricing higher than some competitors?
Quality materials cost more than budget alternatives. We use premium cedar (not pressure-treated pine), virgin vinyl (not recycled), and commercial-grade aluminum (not thin residential products). Our installations also take longer because we don't cut corners—posts are set deeper, spacing is precise, and every detail is checked. This results in fences that last 30+ years instead of needing replacement at 15 years.
Do you offer warranties on materials?
Yes. Material warranties vary by product: premium vinyl typically includes lifetime warranties, commercial aluminum offers 20+ year warranties, and quality cedar comes with our workmanship guarantee. See our Warranty page for complete details.
Can I save money by supplying my own materials?
We don't recommend this. Our supplier relationships give us access to premium materials at favorable pricing, often better than retail. More importantly, when we source materials, we guarantee their quality and can warranty the entire installation. Customer-supplied materials void warranties and often create more problems than savings.
Installation Process
How long does a typical installation take?
Residential projects typically take 2-5 days depending on size and complexity. A standard 150' privacy fence usually takes 2-3 days. Larger or more complex projects (ornamental fencing, multiple gates, challenging terrain) may take longer. We provide specific timelines in your proposal.
Will you handle permits and inspections?
Yes, we manage all permitting and inspection coordination. This is included in our service at no additional charge. We prepare plans, submit permit applications, coordinate with building departments, and schedule required inspections.
Do you work year-round?
We install fencing throughout the year, weather permitting. Winter installations are possible in many cases. Concrete setting requires temperatures above freezing, so we schedule accordingly. We maintain flexibility to work around your schedule and weather conditions.
What happens if you encounter underground utilities?
We require utility marking before any digging. You're responsible for calling your local utility marking service (811) at least 3 business days before installation. If we encounter unmarked utilities during installation, work stops immediately until the situation is resolved. Any delays due to unmarked utilities may affect timeline and costs.
How much cleanup is involved?
Complete cleanup is included in every installation. We remove all debris, old fencing (if applicable), excess materials, and leave your property clean. Our crews take pride in leaving job sites cleaner than they found them.
Pricing & Payment
How is pricing determined?
Pricing depends on materials chosen, linear footage, height, terrain challenges, gate requirements, and any special features. We provide detailed written proposals that break down all costs so you understand exactly what you're paying for.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we require a 50% deposit upon contract signing to order materials and schedule your project. The remaining 50% is due upon completion and your satisfaction with the work.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept checks, cash, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), and ACH bank transfers. For larger commercial projects, we can arrange payment schedules.
Do you offer financing?
We work with third-party financing companies that offer competitive rates for qualified homeowners. Ask about financing options during your consultation.
Maintenance & Longevity
How long will my fence last?
With proper installation and premium materials, expect 25-30+ years for cedar, 40-50+ years for vinyl, and 50+ years for aluminum ornamental fencing. Chain link can last 20-30+ years depending on gauge and coating. Our installations consistently outlast competitors because we don't cut corners.
What maintenance is required?
Cedar: Can be left natural to weather to silver-gray, or stained/sealed every 3-5 years to maintain color. Vinyl and aluminum: Occasional cleaning with soap and water—that's it. Chain link: Minimal maintenance—check and tighten fittings as needed.
Do you offer maintenance services?
Yes, we offer staining/sealing services for cedar fences, repair services for all fence types, and inspection services to ensure your fence continues performing optimally.
What if I need repairs years later?
We're here for the long term. Call us for any repairs or maintenance needs, even years after installation. We keep detailed records of all projects and can quickly source matching materials if repairs are needed.
Design & Customization
Can you match an existing fence style?
In most cases, yes. We can match existing fence styles, stains, and designs. Bring photos to your consultation, and we'll discuss options for matching or complementing your current fencing.
Do you offer custom designs?
Absolutely. Custom arbors, unique gate designs, decorative elements, and one-of-a-kind features are our specialty. Our design consultant can help you create something truly unique for your property.
Can I see samples of materials?
Yes, we bring material samples to consultations so you can see and feel the quality difference. We can also arrange visits to completed projects with similar materials (with homeowner permission).
Will you work with my landscape architect or designer?
We regularly collaborate with landscape architects, designers, and home builders. We can work from their plans or collaborate on design elements to ensure the fencing integrates perfectly with your overall property design.
Property & Logistics
Do I need to be home during installation?
You don't need to be present throughout the entire installation, but we ask that you're available at the start (to show access and address any questions) and at completion (for final walkthrough and payment).
Will installation damage my lawn or landscaping?
We take great care to minimize impact. However, some disturbance is inevitable when setting posts and moving materials. We coordinate access routes with you beforehand and repair any significant damage. Most lawn disturbance recovers naturally within a few weeks.
What if my property line is unclear?
We install where you direct us to install. However, we strongly recommend having your property surveyed if there's any uncertainty about boundaries. Fence disputes with neighbors are expensive and stressful—a $500 survey can prevent $10,000 in legal fees.
Can you install on a slope?
Yes, we regularly install on sloped terrain. We use either raked (follows slope) or stepped (stair-step pattern) designs depending on your preference and the slope severity. This is one area where experience really matters—improper installation on slopes leads to premature failure.
Residential vs. Commercial
Do you handle both residential and commercial projects?
Yes, we handle both. We have separate project managers for residential and commercial work to ensure each receives appropriate attention and expertise.
What's different about commercial installations?
Commercial projects typically require more extensive permitting, often need engineer-stamped plans, must meet stricter code requirements, and involve coordinating with property managers, HOAs, or building management. We have dedicated staff experienced in commercial project requirements.
Do you work with property management companies?
Yes, we work with several property management companies and have accounts set up for billing convenience. We understand the needs of multi-family housing, commercial properties, and understand how to work within your budget and schedule constraints.
